FAQ

  • What is the cup made of?
  • The cups are made of silicon approved for medical use.
  • Is there any environmental labelling on the cups?
  • Not yet, but it requires less carbon to produce one menstrual cup than to manufacture 10 tampons.
  • Is there something else in addition to silicone in the cups?
  • No, we do not use dyes for colouring or additives to increase productivity.
  • How should I store my cup?
  • The cup is stored in a bag made of organic cotton, where the cup should be happy when not in use.
  • What is a iCup?
  • A iCup is a very clever menstrual protection. It is a small cup made of silicone that you fold and insert. Once in place, it collects your period instead of absorbing it. A iCup can be in place for up to 12 hours before you’ll have to remove it and wash it, and then re-insert.
  • How do I know which size I should have?
  • MonthlyCup is made in three sizes:
Size Mini is for the first years of having your period.
Size Normal is for you who have not given birth and are under 30.
Size Plus is for you who have given birth or are over 30.
Sizes are general, and because every woman is different we offer a size warranty. The warranty is designed to make you able to try your cup at ease at home for up to 6 months. Should it be too big or too small you’ll get to exchange it for the other size. In that case, send us an e-mail to info@menstrualcup.com. Don’t forget to include your order number!
  • Do I have to buy a new iCup when I have given birth?
  • Not necessarily. Every woman is different, and after you’ve given birth your body changes. The best thing to do is just to wait for your period to come back properly, and then to try it. Note: a iCup should not be used if you are having a miscarriage, an abortion, lochia or post-partum bleeding, only when you are having your period.
  • How does it feel?
  • A iCup that’s in the right size and that’s inserted right doesn’t feel at all.
  • How do I know if a iCup is something for me?
  • Most women can use a iCup. Even if you are very sensitive and cannot use tampons, usually a iCup does work. Send us an e-mail if you have any questions to info@icup.in
  • How often do I have to empty it?
  • It depends on what size you have and how much you are bleeding. Most women only need to empty the cup 2 times/day. If you have very heavy periods it may require more frequent emptying. Do not let your iCup sit inside you for more than 12 hours.
  • Why can I not continue to use pads and tampons?
  • Of course, you can, no one can make you use a iCup. However, the cup is a better option from both an environmental, a health and an economic angle.
  • I do easily get yeast infections; could a iCup help me?
  • Most people who have problems with yeast infections find that it gets better with a iCup. Just be sure to use a pH-neutral, fragrance-free soap and that your hands are clean when managing the cup. If you’ll get a yeast infection while using a iCup, it is usually because you’ve gotten soap residue into your genital area.
  • Bloodbath???!!
  • When removing the iCup for emptying, you’ll do it while sitting down on the toilet. Just empty the cup straight down. Thus you should not run around with a full iCup in your hand. It is also fine to empty and wash the iCup while in the shower.
  • Can the blood flow back into the body?
  • The menstruation that your cup collects aren't something that you’ll feel or even notice while using your iCup. No, it does not flow back into your body, and if it should happen it is completely safe.
